Nathaniel Stitzlein | Bio image

Nathaniel Stitzlein is an artist who works with wire and recycled materials. His mobiles and hanging sculptures have been shown in galleries and acquired in many collections. He received a BFA in fine art, and as a graphic designer, he has developed logos and web sites for multiple clients.

As co-owner of an arts and crafts tour organization, Nathaniel arranges tours for groups to visit artisans in rural villages of South Africa, Guatemala, Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico as well as contemporary artists’ studios in France. He lived and worked with Zulu artists in South Africa for a year at a studio creating hand-built ceramics. He also lived in Brazil and travelled to Peru and India to learn about indigenous craft techniques.

Nathaniel co-produces textile and surface design workshops. The workshop facility, an 1800’s timber frame barn, was relocated and renovated by Nathaniel, his father and his brother. It houses classes and meals for up to 40 students at a time. Students and teachers have travelled from all over the world to participate in the spring and fall workshops.
